Inspired: Gloria Vanderbilt

Today, we picked out some initial paint swatches for our new place.  We're not making any decisions until we actually see the color in the space, but my head has been swimming with paint scheme ideas.  It brought to mind an article New York Magazine ran about Gloria Vanderbilt over a year ago.  I have not been able to get the photos of her apartment out of my mind ever since.  I love her bold color choices and eccentric, heartfelt decorating sense.  These are some of my favorite images from that article:
I love the contrast molding in the room in the foreground and the bright pink molding of the window against a white wall in the room in the background.
 
One of the most beautiful mantels I've ever seen.  So childlike and colorful.
 What a stunning color scheme.
